Imagine you are having your perfect summer – lovely weather, time with family and friends having fun AND no worrying about bills as your business is running well, clients are re-booking and you are bringing in new sales even while you are on the beach.
Nice, right? In your fantasy, you didn’t imagine the time and effort to put in systems and plans to make that work, did you? You didn’t come up with technical issues or critical thoughts. Not initially, at least.
When I asked you to “imagine” an outcome, your brain unconsciously skips over worry and critical analysis, instead focusing on the fantastic feeling of the reality in your mind. For a moment, fantasy becomes reality, and doubt disappears. Imagine that.
The magic word “imagine” connects people’s imagination and their feelings. When you get your audience to imagine a future situation, they rapidly open up to HOW to make something happen.
“Imagine creating better relationships and better understanding between yourself and your buyers, so not only do you understand your own strengths , challenges and value as a sales person but you understand what drives your buyers to buy.”
That’s how I opened a talk at a conference a few years ago when I launched “Trusted Sales Dynamics” and nearly everyone in the packed room of 120+ filled in a form to ask for more details and many became clients and even went on to train with me as Trusted Sales Consultants.
The word imagine expands the idea of what’s possible. Imagine you’ve won the lottery. Imagine you have the funding you’re seeking. Imagine living in your ideal house. It’s a word that opens opportunity–a word that says to skip all the worries. It bypasses critical thinking and goes straight to what feels good.
