One of our principles here at Trusted Sales Dynamics is that one size does not fit all, there is not ONE right way to success but by knowing yourself and understanding your learning preferences and your personality we can help you along the right path for you.
It is no different when it comes to setting goals or visions or intentions for the last big push of the year.
If you are a Visual communicator you are likely to be driven by dynamic, creative wood energy. This means you like to see things visually so you will be attracted to a creating a Vision Board, pictures and images that symbolise changes, dreams and desires for the coming year.
This is great as a visual reminder but move it around your room from time to time because if it is in the same place all the time it becomes “invisible”. You might want to add to the likelihood of your visions coming true by creating some awesome goals around it. Here are some my clients have created as part of the 90 Day Planning Workshop. The next one is running on Friday 8th September. By taking 90 days, rather than a year (too long), a month (not enough time to prepare and execute in order to show results) we make plans that take your Future Vision and break it down into manageable projects.
If you are an auditory communicator you are likely to be driven by firey, warm energy. You like to talk to others about your intentions, and make them public. Making your goals public CAN help you stick to them as others can help you be accountable to themt sometimes telling people about them feels like you have actually done them and you don’t get round to doing them in reality! Anyone identify with that? So make sure you have a coach, a buddy or an accountant who holds you accountable!
Or you could record your thoughts to help clarify them. The Future Vision questionnaire is a great starting point for this. You can read more about that here.
If you are a kinesthetic communicator you are likely to be driven by the Earth/Tempo energy. Having new diaries, planners and calendars is a source of excitement and making plans by looking back over what worked last year and what changes can be made for this year based on learning and understanding the past is likely to be your preferred option.
At a Trusted Sales Academy Meet Up at the start of the year we all compared different planners and diaries – I like to try a few to find the ideal one for me – here’s a selection I have tried! The Daily Greatness Journal is still my favourite.
If you are like measuring your goals and dealing in facts and figures you are likely to be driven by a metal energy. Writing down your goals in SMART terms means they have a much higher likeliehood of being successful, especially if you review them regularly and monitor your progress. My favourite interpretation of SMART is Specific, Measurable, Addictive, Reach and Time-bound.
The more spiritual people may think more about intentions and consult Tarot cards and readings to see what lies in their future and set their intentions that way.
Which personality type are you (or combination of types) and which is your preferred method of setting yourself up for success for the last term in 2017?
